Background

Little Key developed a six-week course designed to empower news leaders to reform workplace culture by prioritizing transparency, accountability, and care. I collaborated with Little Key to craft a visual identity that breaks away from industry norms, enhancing the course’s tone of warmth and accessibility.

01 Focusing strategy, style, and tactics.

Little Key entered into this process with vivid ideas about tone and intention but little definition around visual direction and tactics. I facilitated a Miro workshop to help focus ideas, align on tactics, and define a general direction for the visual design.

02 Establishing key art.

Early on, we established illustration as a core component of the brand identity. But we were faced with the question, “What should the illustrations actually be?” The themes and styles defined in the Miro workshop provided a base for me to create illustrations that felt unexpected while centering recognizable news industry iconography.

03 A mini design system.

A full brand guide was not in scope for this project. Instead I created a mini design system in Figma to provide essential style definition, packaged key art, and a space for asset production.
